Located at the base of Garena Jatetxea, we find our vineyard where both Garena and Garoa txakoli are elaborated.
The vineyard benefits, as well the restaurant, from a privileged location in the municipality of Dima, Bizkaia.
This project is completed with a state-of-the-art winery, prepared to reveal the best of our grapes. As our catchword says; “Ginenetik garenera” we will become on what we are from what we were, while our vineyard grows, we will develop new and distinct wines.
The base of all our project is a vineyard of 11 hectares, which is composed of our native varieties Hondarrabi Zerratia (80%) and Hondarrabi Zuri (20%). 5 hectares were planted in 2008 and the remaining 6 in 2013.
Located between two of the most relevant natural parks in Bizkaia: Urkiola and Gorbea. Situated at an altitude of 260 meters above the sea level, the vineyard is a steep slope with south orientation. Its soils are acid, clayey and shallow, which are settled on limestone and marl.
Garena, is a modern txakoli from Biscay, which is the result of assembling our local varieties Hondarrabi Zerratia 80% and Hondarrabi Zuri 20%.
Both varieties are treated in a distinct way in the winery; aging with its lees a small part of the final assembling. In this way we achieve a fresh and aromatic wine with an excellent structure and complexity.
Elaborated with 100% Hondarribi Zerratia grapes, cultivated in Axpe-Goikoa vineyard.
Geroa txakolina comes to us as an ambassador of time, giving the essence of a great Txakoli and announcing a longevity that will provide even greater complexity and structure.
After fermentation, the young wine was aged with its lees in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. It is a wine that represents the evolution and the future of Txakoli in Bizkaia.
